The second single from the eagerly anticipated debut album, "Awkward" from Ty, ‘The Nonsense’ is a funky piece of psychedelic guitar-soul, our man taking the opportunity to experiment with his vocals a little, multi-tracking adlibs and then coming with a verse of dizzying concepts and strange leaps. It’s a little masterpiece and one which shows how far Ty is prepared to stretch the basics of hip hop while still making accessible, beautiful music.
The title track is backed by two more, the Unsung Heroes producing a rock solid beat for the funny, ‘Mind Made Up’ and UK hip hop veteran Sparkii taking it more uptempo for ‘Move’.
All in all it’s a great package – one which doesn’t rely on remixes or other marketing gimmicks to fill it up. Just good music. The buzz around Ty’s first single, ‘Break The Lock’, has been huge and we’re in no doubt that ‘The Nonsense’ will take it even further.
