Chicago duo Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks are the Cool Kids, the self-professed "new black version of the Beastie Boys" who are taking the world by storm with their unique brand of back-to-the-future boom bap.
Part of the new wave of artists rising out of Chicago's club rap scene (Flosstradamus, Kid Sister), Cool Kids have established a rabid fanbase through non-stop touring - including gigs at South By Southwest, Lollapalooza and the Pitchfork Festival - and deafening internet buzz.
Yet the duo are special because of their songs, not the hype. Taking inspiration from bangers of the past, yet never falling into retro cliches, songs like "88" and "I Rock" are among the most electrifying rap records to come out all year, filled knocking cafeteria-table drums, subatomic bass, and Chuck & Mikey's inimitable swagger and personality.
