A groovy and trippy double-sided 7-inch by Outernational pop-group Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek!
After the melancholic, heart-melting Nem Kaldı, the quintet delivers a light upbeat piece, Oy Oy Emine, a traditional Turkish song interpreted in the spirit of the group: the Bağlama (Turkish lute) introduces the melody before a warm and dynamic rhythm section kicks in, over which Derya's superb voice jousts with wah-wah guitars and acid synthesizers.
Oy Oy Emine is a seduction song anyone in Turkey can sing along to, about a man's mad love for a beautiful woman called Emine. Although many versions have been recorded, not many pop/rock groups have attempted to interpret it (one exception being Elektro Dschungel in the late 80's) and Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek offer a fresh, subtle arrangement that suits their 70's psychedelic sound.
