Initially best known as John Coltrane's wife, Alice Coltrane released a steady wave of amazing cosmic-jazz records from 1967 to 2004, which feature her virtuosic piano and harp playing. She also recorded an album with Carlos Santana and played with Kenny Clarke, McCoy Tyner and Charlie Haden. 'Turiya Sings' was a self-released cassette, issued in 1982 and a hard-to-find collector's item since then. It features Alice Coltrane on vocals and organ, with string arrangements by Murray Adler. This LP-reissue was newly remastered for optimal sound. |
