The Koliphones are a moog funk super group from Tel Aviv, consisting of Kutiman (drums), Kalbata (moog) and Mix Monster (producer). The Koliphones sound is 100% analog. Imagine ESG meet Pierre Henry in a dub step stylee and you have a rough idea what the Koliphones sound is about. Koliphones statement: “The Koliphones project was born in the summer of 2007, in the boiling heat of the south Tel Aviv neighbourhood where we live. Joined by our love to rare psychedelic grooves, dusty 45’s and hard hitting bass, we teamed up to create an all analog experimental funk project, recorded on tape, using 100% analog gear, with mostly moog and drums as instruments. We hope you join us in this journey into sound - the sound of The Koliphones!” Kalbata: the prolific bass producer whose remixes for Fat Freddy’s Drop, Spank Rock and Roll Deep have wobbled nuff dance floors from Tel Aviv to Brixton.
