Last year Kweli, like many popular musicians, fell victim to the web as someone stole a studio copy of The Beautiful Struggle and leaked album in its rough stages. After Talib wrote a short diatribe on the situation, he persisted and officially releases the album less than a year later. This 14-track album boasts the talent of Common, John Legend, The Neptunes, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, Res, Jean Grae, Just Blaze and Quality's leading producer, Kanye West. Granted Talib has changed up his style since the more organic Black Star days -proof of that in both his first and now second solos- he is making music that is listenable for a larger audience. Regardless if you're an old Talib fan or a new Talib fan, this album has a little something for everyone. |
