Let’s join us on another trip to Phantom Island: The 9th release of the label is a neat 7“ single by Zurich based DJ and producer Kay Zee. For almost thirty years he has been and still is bustling and active in the underground art scene of Switzerland’s biggest city. „Barny“ is a punchy jam with an irresistible groove and a touch of psychedelia thrown in, delays and reverbs swirling around, keyboards and guitar having an exciting conversation. You almost can feel Kay Zee jamming in his studio all on his own capturing this one-of-a-kind momentum.
For the B-Side Phantom Island’s own Fuga Ronto (Ron Shiller and Tobi Schweizer) step in and rework „Barny“ into a percussion driven and fusion infected halftime shuffle version, with dub elements lurking around the corner. Or in other words: Providing the song with their infectious trademark sound.
