Bobby Rush has built a strong reputation in the blues world. In the early 1970s he had his first Hit record titled Chicken Heads. However he was active a long time before this particular song. In the mid/late 1960s he already released 45s under his own name, but also produced other artists including the totally obscure Len & the P.A.'s. Their sole 45rpm single Soul Block b/w Believe Me was released on Bobby's own Rush label in around 1968. For all deep-funk fans out there, Soul block has been recently featured on the compilation album “Feeling Nice Vol.2” (TRLP/CD-9027), compiled by Daniel Wanders and Tobias Kirmayer. |
