Ced also known as I, Ced, joins up with (iN)Sect Records for a second time. He originally appeared on the absolute dancefloor-filler “Westcoast Rock” from our tenth release Starship 27 Vol. 2 ‘TAKE OFF’
compiled by the late great J-1 THE DEER. I, Ced is originally from St. Louis, and currently living in L.A. As, I, Ced, he released a heartfelt and thematically brilliant LP in 2011 called “All In My Mind”. It is truly one of those records that can easily stay in rotation for months without anyone noticing.
Recently he has been making waves out in the Los Angeles community.
He has been a part of the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble for the shows “East Side Story” (playing alongside artists like James Gadson, Mayer Hawthorne and Bilal) and “That 70’s Soul” (playing alongside artists like Seu Jorge, Zap Mama, Shuggie Otis, Spacek and Alice Russel) showcasing his versatility as an artist and a performer. He has also just finished mixing the new Dam-Funk LP, as well as preparing to join Dam on stage for Coachella this year as we write this.
This 45, the third and final single in this series, is a monster of two tracks packed into such a small record. “Insanity” ft. Jimetta Rose on vocals (also of the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble) brings to mind
two of our favorite tings, dancing and love. This song is infectious and Jimetta’s voice along with I, Ced’s melody and music on this one can absolutely melt you on the spot. The flipside, “In The Place To Be” finds I, Ced taking a break from the mic and resting in the producer’s chair to lay the background for heavyweight MC/Producers Quelle & Black
Spade to spit bars for days on this song with DJ Jawa aka Ren on the cuts. Far from a b-side, this song takes you back to when you had to have skills to hold the mic. Simple, Electric and definitive |
