Remixes by Te'Amir, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Jneiro Jarel, King Britt, Black Spade, Mario C. & Joey E. / Timeless was the live recording of the decade somehow. How else could this dream festival have happened–and have been recorded and filmed so beautifully. Now Timeless has been remixed. Six great producers across genres have taken a bite from each of the concerts and remade the magic.
YÈKÈRMO SÈW - MULATU ASTATKE – TE’AMIR REMIX
Te’Amir, born in Los Angeles, of Ethiopian and Irish decent, grew up around art and music. He is new as an artist/producer but has been busy playing drums and percussion for several artists—Aloe Blacc & The Grand Scheme, Mayer Hawthorne & The County, SA-RA, Quadron and Mia Doi Todd just to name a few.
Te’Amir’s first record is entitled “L.A. Soul” which was released to critical acclaim in 2011—his hotly anticipated follow up “Abyssinia” a journey into Ethiopian Soul will be completed soon. His remix brings Mulatu to Brasil by way of Jamaica.
UNTITLED/FANTASTIC - SUITE FOR MA DUKES ORCHESTRA – GEORGIA ANNE MULDROW REMIX
Born to extraordinary musical parents in Los Angeles, Georgia Anne Muldrow surrounded by music of all types and origins. To this very day she carries the same spirit, making her instrumentation and songwriting so unique. She has worked with trailblazing artists such as Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Dudley Perkins, Madlib, M.E.D. , Prince Po and The Visionaries. Georgia is part of the new generation of musicians who can produce, sing and rap. She won the World Wide Music Awards Best Jazz Album of the year for her solo album Ocotea in 2011. When we asked her to remix Suite for Ma Dukes she told us “Im going to do it like I was sitting in that night with the Orchestra…” wow now we wish she was.
BALADA 45 - ARTHUR VEROCAI – JNEIRO JAREL REMIX
For over a decade, Jneiro Jarel (aka Dr. Who Dat?) has provided listeners with an unbelievably eclectic mix of sounds. Often being described as “experimental” and “psychedelic,” Jarel simply calls it “The Viberian Experience”, where various musical styles and influences have beautifully coalesced to become something all it’s own. With more monikers than Kool Keith, his collaborations and producer credits are almost too many to mention. Highlights include works with Khujo Goodie (as Willie Isz), DOOM, TV on the Radio, Massive Attack and many more. He is a huge fan of Arthur Verocai and his remix is an homage to Brasilian women.
THE RADCLIFFE - MULATU ASTATKE – KING BRITT’S SMOKE OUT REMIX
King Britt has been breaking the traditional boundaries and forging a unique path as a producer, musician, DJ, label boss and media revolutionary for over
20 years. King is one of the world’s most respected remixers. He has added his unique touch to hugely diverse range of artists ranging from Miles Davis, The O’Jays and Curtis Mayfield through to Macy Gray, Solange, Femi Kuti and Everything But The Girl. King has also scored and underscored music for films, TV series and commercials (Miami Vice, Rolex, Mini, and True Blood) while in 2007 he became the first DJ to be awarded The Pew Fellowship – one of the most prestigious grants for creative arts in U.S. King is also a Creative Cultural Ambassador for his hometown of Philadelphia. King Britt’s vision of Mulatu involves the consumption of sacred herbs and lots of reverb.
FALL IN LOVE - SUITE FOR MA DUKES ORCHESTRA – BLACK SPADE REMIX
Armed with his father’s extensive record collection of jazz, soul, psychedelic rock, folk, comedy and a Kurzweil 2000 keyboard, Black Spade creates music that is a melting pot of sounds and influences. Despite his strong ties to hip-hop, Black Spade’s tastes in music travel across genres and galaxies. Black Spade is a rare emcee that produces music under the alias Stoney Rock. It must be mentioned that he can sing too. Blake Spade has worked with music legends such as The Mizell Brothers, Steve Spacek andMark Pritchard. Black Spade’s remix is a vocal version of “Fall in Love” from the Suite for Ma Dukes EP.
CABOCLO - ARTHUR VEROCAI – MARIO C. AND JOEY A. REMIX
Mario C is a super-producer. His early days were spent soaking up the wide musical spectrum of Gardenia, California. He was the go to engineer and
producer on all the classic Delicious Vinyl hits for Tone-Loc and Young MC. He came to world prominence as the man who helped create the Beastie
Boys sound from Paul’s Boutique to Hello Nasty. From there Mario has built a career helping people find their sound. He has produced records with
Manu Chao, Seu Jorge, Marcello D2, Jack Johnson, Sly and Robbie, One Day as a Lion, Marisa Monte and Super Furry Animals among many others. He
has remixed such giants as Quincy Jones, Bjork, Fela, John Lee Hooker and now Arthur Verocai. His remix of Caboclo re-imagines Timeless as if it was
recorded in 1972.
