The 45 is a ubiquitous piece of vinyl that first came to prominence during the era of the single in the early to mid 60's. At the time labels figured pressing 7 inches was not only cheaper than having to press full albums but it was a small investment with the possibility of large returns. As part of this process many obscure artists got to have their work released to the public. Funk, soul and psych were the largest markets that benefited from this mechanism and as any DJ or collector knows, the 45 is where the real treasures lie in these genres. On to the early 70's when disco and dance music was on the rise and re-mixes were created courtesy of Tom Moulton and the 12' 45 was born. These 12' were created out of the demand for dj's to have more time to mix in other tracks, and also for the producer to be more creative in his invention of remixes. The 12' 45 is an essential artifact of dance history that spans from italo, new wave, disco, balearic, to early house and techno. This design boasts the outline of a 12' 45 with diagonal lines that give it a sleek modern look that looks like a cross between a Factory records aesthetic and a vintage italo record. Perfect for DJ's, producers, and dance music connoisseurs. Choose between the turquoise on black or black on white design.
