I can usually tell if the record is going to be good without even listening, just by looking at it and let my fingers feel the texture of the cover. Thus is the case with this new Swiss label Ish. My distributor was willing to put his rep behind it with a consistent, and potent nagging. I finally gave in, and was pleased to find quality throughout the whole label. What you'll find is some top quality downtempo in the vein of Fat Jon and those popular american 7"s, packaged in neato Swiss sleeves. This particular one from En Sayne Whorter succeeds in becoming the rare complete instrumental album. He mixes the beat textures up nicely offering up smoky, dancey, playful and funky stuff. Adding to the picture (and always appreciated by hum dudes), interludes and oddities are sprayed randomly in between tracks. Recommended |
