Kosmos is the third full-length record for Luaka Bop from the uncategorizable Danish band of Jonathan Bremer (on acoustic bass) and Morten McCoy (on keys and tape delay).
“We decided to call it Kosmos,” Morten said, “because for us, it's this feeling of being able to transcend time and space and just be, which is a very important thing for humans. Even though it's quiet music, it's music that you're able to just dream: have your own dreams, your own inner images.”
In his 2023 review of Bremer/McCoy's sold-out residency at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, David Dyrholm of Politiken wrote:“It is one of the most beautiful things you can imagine. The long sinewy fingers slide over the strings of the double bass and send deep tones into the room. The vibrations can be felt throughout the body. The piano chimes in, first with swinging dub, soon laid back, calmly, in broken chords and with a melody seasoned with the blue tones on which both American jazz and Nordic folk songs are based. Overwhelming.
