This collection stands as the definitive survey of Mssr. Gainsbourg’s psychedelic years. Culling its music from rare vinyl (Gainsbourg’s ultra-rare 7” B-side from the Mister Freedom OST) and master tapes (the superb and never commercially released “La Horse” and the breakbeat classic “Requiem Pour Un Con”) and utilizing tasteful restoration and remastering, Le Smoke Disque’s latest anthology promises to be the first time that many of these songs will be heard by the record-buying public - at least in this form. And with bonus beats to boot.
