Zurich based producer, multi instrumentalist, singer and composer Kevin Wettstein aka Melodiesinfonie is set to release ‘Softboi’, 10 tracks of sunbaked soul and mellow funk featuring vocals in English, German and Portuguese. Neatly landing in the middle of summer, a hazy, sunset, mellow mood envelopes ‘Softboi’, bringing in suggestions of Khruangbin’s worldly-funk, the laid back stylings of Tommy Guerrero and the warm studio aesthetic of El Michels Affair. Melodiesinfonie has been continuously releasing music for a decade with several EPs, three solo albums and two featuring albums. Influences are broad: from Lonnie Liston Smith and Pharoah Sanders, a grounding in fusion and psychedelic rock from his audiophile dad’s record collection, plus a healthy rebellious teenage phase of The Clash and Sex Pistols. Following album releases on Melting Pot and Jakarta, Wettstein began transitioning from beatmaking into a more organic style of music making. Buying a new drum kit after inspiration struck at a Yussef Dayes show, and simultaneously reigniting his relationship with the guitar and bass, this new set of tracks emerged. |
