Tres Records presents the latest album release from Detroit veteran artist/producer Big Tone. Many are aware of Tone's previous work on his debut album “The Drought” (2005 ABB Records), Ta’raach’s “The Fevers”, Shawn Jackson’s “First of All”, or his earlier work on J Dilla’s “Welcome 2 Detroit”, and his new release is sure to please the ears of Hip Hop fans for years to come. Tone’s vision to provide insight to his lifestyle and perspective lead to the tattoo based theme of the project. Creating music with such vivid depictions of life, love, aspirations, and growth, Tone mirrors the tattoo artists’ ability to capture innermost desires experiences, and memories on the canvas of the soul. From the opening track,
“Skin Deep” (featuring Monica Blaire) Tone gives you an introspective look at his own personal and spiritual growth.
Inspired by Big Tone’s passion for the art of emceeing, the album is highlighted by some of today’s most notable lyricists including Blu, Guilty Simpson, Breeze Brewin, and Ta?raach.
The Art of Ink speaks on rebirth and prosperity. Throughout the album and onto the last song “Peace, Progress, God Bless”
Tone portrays a sense of social awareness, inspiration, and self-enlightenment. As one of Detroit’s premier producers, Tone does not disappoint in providing a soulful soundtrack as the perfect backdrop to his impassioned literary works. |
