With this new single Nicole Willis introduces yet another slice of dance floor heat from her new Timmion album "Happiness In Every Style". The mighty horn arrangements and guitar plucking from The Soul Investigators tip more than a pimped-up hat brim towards Bahamas' funksters Beginning Of The End, who devastated the charts back in 1970 with "Funky Nassau" only to repeat their enticing formula all the way to rare groove obscurity.
Nicole is lyrically in full force on this one, riding the laid back funk with an odd mixture of determination and plaintiveness. Relationships are once more the subject and the treatment is stripped down to bloody bare necessities. To boot, The Soul Investigators offer an earful of mellow soulful funk that is easy to appreciate also on the instrumental side. "Let's communicate" is a valuable addition to any rare soul DJ's set. |
