pushed back for about a thousand times, Pharrell's solo album finally drops. Still the same twelve inch tracks on it and i can't really figure out why it has been pushed back, though i can't know what was taken off or added to the album. All in all this comes of quite sloppy and not as worked out, perfect or heavy as you could have expected it. Pharrell is not our rapper dude, his vocals range from Michael Jackson to Justin Timberlake and back, so we have to focus on the beats. They come astonishingly un-interesting and un-crispy. Some smooth R'n'B joints for your room, no club tunes and two or three really dope tracks (if it is for the beat only). After all the millions of extremely refreshing and ahead-of-the-time type of productions him and Hugo put out, this album faints as a lil bit of a bummer. But don't get me wrong, it's good compared to 90% of other shit that the market gets floated with, but honestly, i vote for Outkast.... |
