he highly anticipated release from members of K-OTIX and The Foundation!
K-OTIX was formed in 1992 when high school classmates Mic and Damien were introduced to The ARE through mutual friends. After realizing their common musical interests, they spent the next several years honing their craft in anticipation of sharing the fruits of their labor with the rest of the world.
The "K-OTIX sound" is probably best described as a crossroads between the materialistic commercialism of their better-known counterparts and the enigmatic abstractness of many independent titles. Their influences, encompassing all times and genres of music, are noticeably apparent in their music. Becoming increasingly non-conformist over the years, K-OTIX is cutting deeper and deeper against the grain to deliver a message that needs to be heard, rather than repeating what has already been said. In fact, a number of patrons in their global audience have proclaimed K-OTIX as a group that people will have to listen to in years to come.
Since 1992, K-OTIX has had little time for rest, since their full-time schedules and pastime passions often coincide. The group has a rather extensive resume of performances, including several trips to the South By Southwest music conference in Austin, TX and a number of performances across the U.S. In 2001, K-OTIX went on tour in Japan with DJ Cash Money to promote their Universal LP, and recently toured with KRS-ONE, Talib Kweli, and Blackalicious on a leg of the Kwelity / Spiritually Minded Tour. Additionally, K-OTIX has shared the stage with such acclaimed artists as Outkast, The Roots, Common, Busta Rhymes, De La Soul, Black Eyed Peas and many others. In October 2002, the group completed a month-long tour of Europe, performing in Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Austria, and the Czech Republic. K-OTIX is currently working on their follow up to 2001's Universal LP, scheduled for release in 2004.
K-otix Entertainment was established in 1992 and is wholly owned by the three members of K-OTIX: Damien Randle, Micah Nickerson, Russel Gonzalez.
