Arkstar is a loose collective of beat-heads, MPC virtuosos and Jazz musicians that emerged from one of Switzerland’s most innovative Jazz bands to constantly imbed contemporary electronical music in Jazz, the former Freeform Arkestra.
Arkstar is rather a space-time vektor than a real band, since they transcend personhood through their sound, built off of shuffling drums, sizzling synthesizer, squeaking guitars, irresistible grooves and jazzy vibes. Picture George Clinton and Sun Ra in their early thirties meeting up 2005 in London – they would be sweeping off dancefloors and Jazz festivals at the same time, leaving your loin vibrating and your ass muscles pulsating; that’s Arkstar! Let them say it in their own words, borrowed from William S. Burroughs: “Take off your skin and dance around your bones”.
