Funky did it! The Swiss beatmaker Funky Notes releases his new album «Second Home» on the 3rd of May 2019. On the 9-song-strong release, Funky lovingly cuts sounds from various sample sources and mixes them with clapping drums to a classic urban sound. Organic instrumentation, sometimes laid-back, sometimes with punch. Harmonious melody structures and drums with typical 90s aesthetics create space for beautiful dreamy vocal samples and other musical nuances.
In autumn 2017, Funky Notes leaves his old life behind to undertake a journey through Europe. Inspired by his return to Prague, the golden city, he quickly sets up a portable studio in his grandparents flat. An MPC (2000XL), a hard disk full of sample material, lots of sketches and the inspiring surrounding area of the city created a musical firework. In less than 4 weeks he crafted more than 30 beats.
An exquisite selection of these beats are now being released under the fitting album title «Second Home». |
