Brainfeeder präsentiert einen besonderen "chopped not slopped"-Mix von Thundercats unglaublichem Album "Drunk" (2017) von DJ Candlestick und OG Ron C vom legendären Houstoner DJ-Kollektiv The Chopstars. Da verlangsamt und zerhackstückelt, wurde der Mix passenderweise in "Drank" umgetauft. Erstmals tauchte dieser Mix im vergangenen Jahr online auf, als inoffizielle Hommage an das von allen Seiten vielfach gelobte dritte Werk des virtuosen Bassisten,
Thundercat veröffentlichte mit „Drunk“ im Februar 2017 sein drittes Album und überzeugte damit erneut Kritiker und Musikexperten weltweit. Auf 23 Tracks lud der Grammydekorierte Sänger und Bassist seine Freunde Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Wiz Khalifa, Kamasi Washington und Brainfeeder-Vordenker Flying Lotus ein, ihn auf seiner musikalischen Reise zu begleiten. Diese Reise führte in die Bestenlisten des Jahres 2017, wie z.B. bei Intro, Musikexpress, Pitchfork, NPR, Rough Trade, NME, Crack Magazine, New York Times, Consequence Of Sound, Noisey, SPIN, Stereogum, The Guardian, Billboard, Esquire, High Snobiety, LA Weekly, Dummy, The Sunday Times u.v.m., und zudem wurde das Album von BBC 6 Music zum Album des Jahres 2017 ernannt. |
