Re-issue of the classic 10-track roots dub album in a heavyweight 180gram vinyl edition. Originally released on the Observer label in 1977 (cat# OBS 1003), "Sledge Hammer Dub" features versions to the Dennis Brown longplayer "Deep Down", a collection of previous released 7Inch singles produced by Niney The Observer. According to the expert Harry Hawking eight of 10 original tracks are recorded with members of the Soul Syndicate at Randy's studio and two tracks with the Cimarons as backing band at the Chalk Farm studio (London, UK). Highlights include the King Tubby mixes to "Tribulation" ("Tribulation Version") and "So Long Rastafari" ("Dub Long Rastafari"). |
