The third release in their Latin 45's series:
'Hotel Alyssa-Sousse, Tunisia' is taken from percussionist Sabu Martinez' 'Afro Temple' LP; an all-time classic Latin record, seminal infact, originals of which used to change hands for as much as $3000.
Sabu worked with titans of the jazz and latin world including Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, J. J. Johnson, Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Mary Lou Williams, Lionel Hampton, Noro Morales, Marcelino Guerra, Esy Morales, the Lecuona Cuban Boys, Miguelito Valdés, Tito Rodríguez, Joe Loco Trio, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr. and Harry Belafonte amongst others.
'Hotel Alyssa-Sousse, Tunisia' has never been released on 7".
'Babarabatiri' was written by Antar Daly and released in the early 1950's on a 78/10" on RCA. More was a master of Cuban music and is regarded as one of the greats. He worked with Perez Prez Prado and led orchestra's, recording multiple albums for RCA.
Many versions of the track have been recorded including interpretations by Tito Puente, Quantic, Fania All Stars, Machito and More himself.
