The Slakadeliqs is the brainchild of Toronto-based producer and songwriter Byram "Slakah" Joseph, known to audiences around the world by his hip hop alter egoSlakah the Beatchild (BBE Records) and also as one half of the electro-soul-house duo The Art of Fresh (Universal). His new album, The Other Side Of Tomorrow, balances an epic range of sounds, from 60s psychedelic and progressive rock to contemporary soul, hip hop and funk -- as Slakah describes it, "an alternate version of the future."

"The psychedelic rock and music in general in the 60s and 70s had so much heart and just felt real," says Slakah. "I wanted to develop another element of creativity and explore new sounds and compositions."

The range of influences and sheer diversity of instrumentation in the Slakadeliqs sound is phenomenal, delivered with a perfect symmetry between humility and confident showmanship. You'll hear echoes of Neil Young, The Beatles, The Zombies and Jimmy Cliff, all the way through to early Lenny Kravitz and Raphael Saddiq. Layered over the rhodes/guitar/bass/drum foundation are violins, violas, cellos, flutes, glockenspiels, flugelhorn, and trumpet.

The Other Side of Tomorrow is defined by themes of positivity, inspiration, renewal and hope. Its first single, "Keep Breathing" featuring Justin Nozuka, is a powerful and uplifting ballad that sends a message to women that it is possible to persevere through any type of adversity. The album's stellar list of collaborators also includes: Tingsek, Ebrahim, King Reign, Shad, Sandie Black, and Tanika Charles.

Originally an independent digital-only release, The Other Side of Tomorrow has already received over 100,000 total plays and downloads. It has been acclaimed all over the world on blogs and social media, and was recently long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize in Canada before its official release date. Now, this modern soul masterpiece is available the way it was meant to be heard.

"An album this good deserves be enjoyed on vinyl," says label boss John Kong, "This is one of those albums that grabs you from start to finish, a rare beast in today's single-driven world."

"On par with Slakah (the Beatchild)'s previous offerings, Soul Movement Vol. 1 and Something Forever, The Other Side of Tomorrow is a fresh, funky and feel-good release that markedly raises the bar for Canadian soul music in 2012." (Matt Bauer)

"On Other Side of Tomorrow, the 'deliqs create a wall of sound that embraces elements of folk, pop, psychedelia, reggae and soul, making it infectious listening. It's already found a spot on my top 10 discs of this year." (Errol Nazareth)
