The One and Nines, an eight piece rhythm and blues band out of Jersey City, NJ, are creating an invigorating and refreshing sound by reigniting a broad spectrum of 50s and 60s soul and rock & roll. The musicians form an eclectic unit with a shared direction and love of the deep roots of American music. Wax Poetics contributor Jon Kirby makes note of the band's sound "acknowledging over fifty years of music history without being forced to repeat it." In keeping with their preferred medium, the track "Just Your Fool" will be released as a 7 inch 45 rpm vinyl single by Brooklyn based Cotter Records. The group is ecstatic about collaborating with a label equally as passionate about their music, and sharing the same enthusiasm for long- forgotten classic. |
