10" from two West Coast Luminaries - DJ Day and Yosaku (the man behind BSTRD Boot's 2009's "Virtual Brasil" EP ).
First up is a dubbed out re-working of Gil-Scott Heron's classic "The Bottle" - chopped, broken, and extended by Yosaku, with DJ Day providing the Rhodes, Clavinet, Arp, and Moog over top. This version has been caned and charted worldwide by some major players for years, and is finally seeing a proper mixdown and vinyl release on BSTRD Boots!
On the flip, Yosaku re-works Willie Bobo's cover of "Always There" - throwing in bits from Ronnie Law's original and Side Effect's version, while DJ Day once again works the keys on top...the rest is history!
Another unmissable vinyl release from BSTRD Boots. |
