‘Bass Man’ featuring Benjammin is the first single from the forthcoming album ‘Three’ by Brighton-based Black Grass. This much awaited first single from Mex’s third album signals the return of the multi-genre artist whose admirers include DJ Shadow, Daddy G, Laurent Garnier, Bajou Bazoo, Krafty Kuts and Portishead’s Andy Smith. ‘Bass Man’ continues in Mex’s unique style by effortlessly melding styles, while on the flip legendary MC J-Live guests on the heavy joint ‘Set It Straight’. Mex’s career spans 20 years and during this time he has built up a reputation as one of the most talented but under-rated DJs. He started off DJ’ing at the seminal Brighton night ‘Knowledge of Self’, he moved to warming up for the likes of OC, Jurassic 5 and Big L whilst also producing the self titled album ‘Black Grass’ in 2004, and then the critically-acclaimed follow up ‘A Hundred Days in One’ in 2006. Black Grass has a series of live gigs coming up including The Luminaire in London and a series of festivals down under across Australia. |
