Steel City soldiers Hoodz Underground are back with ‘Pass Da Mic’ b/w ‘History’, the official jump-off single from their long-awaited debut album ‘Bringin’ It Back’. A throwback to the good old days of Hip Hop where songs were all about beats and lyrics. ‘Pass Da Mic’ is a funky, drum-heavy track with Menace, Joni Atcha, Raw deal, B.Plate and J.Poet all going back to back, spitting 8 bars and passing the mic with no pauses or chorus. The track is produced by up and coming beatsmith Shad, with Hoodz’ DJ Looch handling the cuts. On the flipside cut ‘History’, you’ll find Harry Love behind the boards. One of the UK’s leading DJ’s and Hip Hop producers, he has crafted beats for the likes of Klashnekoff, Jehst, Kyza, Braintax, Yungun, Blak Twang, J-Zone, Mystro and Verb T. The track takes you on a journey, with B.Plate, J.Poet, Joni Atcha and Menace all dropping 16 bars about the Hoodz’ progression in the 15 years they have been together, and the long and rocky road they have travelled to get to where they are. |
