New EP from Still Music’s (whisper it!) L(ove) F(or) M(usic) re-edit stable. It’s a killer KDJ-style disco-house rearrangement. This fine 3 tracker kicks off with the spaced out cinematic Hip Hop of ‘Browns’(B1) - part “Blade Runner", part Motor City. “Good God” (B2) has Saturday night & dancefloor written all over it, combining bassline / vocals from Teddy Pendergrass, with twisted keys and arrangements that tease and deliver in equal measures. Heads down & hands up, this is one of those tracks that people chat about the next day! But like the intro to “Nard’s” (A1) says ‘You gotta pick yourself up’ cos the flip is just as nasty. Starting with the sweetest rhodes & vocals, through pounding kicks / edgy bass & strings that spell pure panic til it opens out into a gristle raw groove that evokes feelings of cuts from the likes of Cameo, Mandrill or the JB’s but flipped with a twist. |
