"Cold Steel" is the phat and heavy stomper with the typical Dilla rolling vibe. I'm sick of talking bout his legacy and why he was such a genius and all, it was straight tracks like this that banged the shit out of every system. Simple and basic sample work but geniously patched together, phat drums and the bassline that keeps you nodding, and nodding, and nodding. And start the track again and keep nodding, keep nodding, keep nodding.
Flip is on the electronical side of sounds, a crazy electro boogie, heavy and repetitive, sounds like he chopped up some bugged out psych rock record for the chords...
Stunning! Irresistible! Bomb!
This single is from Phat Kat’s 2nd Solo Album, Carte Blanche, on Look Records.
And both tracks here are produced by J Dilla. |
