Since 1999 KidNap records releases music that is difficult to pinpoint by style, but easy to recognize by attitude. D.Riba, a musical chameleon, appeared on KidNap before with rather loungey sound.
Collaboration with Moldavian artist and singer Lucia Macari brought to life Hip Hop on Bones, a hip-hop operetta in three volumes. It was conceived in two formats: artistic work, created as a small number of exclusive copies only for exhibits, and a limited edition “commercial” release of 500 copies for collectors and DJs, released by KidNap. The plot is taken from Lucia’s own experience. It all starts with hip-hop on the rocks of Full Moon. The girl walks home in the night, some drunken scum offers her to do a blowjob. The girl refuses and gets a hit on the head, ending up in a hospital with a broken scull. Under Anaesthesia she dreams away. While she sleeps the medical workers and the police like scavengers plan how to squeeze some cash out of what has happened. Chilly techno beat with 50’s organ licks and some fine keyboards sounds. To be continued with vol.2 and vol.3.
