you know exactly how it's done: cheeky helium soaked rhyme oddities from the unknown over blunted crackling beats from Madlib accompanied by Melvin Van Peebles' (sampled) oblique spoken words - and i heard, they might even work together in the future!
Madlib's output has been as enthralling as elusive over the past few years, releasing probably one of the best Hip Hop full lenghts of all time - together with one of the most impressive emcees of the past decade M.F. Doom - as Madvillain and getting beats out to a stunning amount of groups and rappers. Back in his own distorted beat universe and teaming up with Lord Quas, he cooked up some of the most emphatic and outreaching music you could probably create working with samplers and records. i know some cats don't dig that freakish sound of Quas's voice (or use it as an excuse), but i just flip on that whole album like there's nothing else i wanna jive to.
