Another Boston head finally recognized. Rip Shop has been around for a minute and has finally gotten a little shine. This song is off his debut release on Rawkus. All three tracks on this single have dope beats and convey a strong underground rawness (especially “Crabcakes” and “Versus”). The guitar in “Versus” is reminiscent of the Shaft theme song. His flow is jagged and makes me think “stick and move, stick and move”. I think the Rap vs. Hip Hop thing is a little played, yet he kills the topic. These songs are definitely worthy of rotation in your box or on mixes. |
