Promising first release from this new disco re-edit label. For the debut they got the edit king Danny Krivit to work over two feel good (and super rare) monsters: Hokis Pokis' uptempo "Nowhere(1)," and the laid back fingersnap power on b-side "Do You Have The Time(2)" by the Younghearts. I have no idea what the originals sound like, so it ain't my position to pontificate on the job he does here, but suffice it to say that these could soon be your jams. The Hokis Pokis track features a steady bump intro then launches into the kind of airy, floating and vaguely uplifting vocals that remind of Eddie Kendricks' "Date With The Rain." And that super sweet sound gets punctuated by multiple Mr K breakdowns that will wake people out of the disco nap. The Younghearts track is much more mellow and perhaps even more belly-warming. |
