10 tracks or so of Skillz freestyling (same thing as a real song with him) over James Brown loops. He rocks all the classics- "Funky Drummer," Black Caesar's "Blind Man," "Paid The Cost To Be The Boss," the "Soulclap" break from the JBs, etc- just raw home studio style. The effect is, pardon the faux pas, realness. And Skillz' vocals are always point blank to the listener anyway, so it makes for an intimate affair. Plus (faux pt 2) those loops are hot forever. |
