In 1996 DJ Break left RI to pursue a graphic design degree at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. At ODU he started a mix show on WODU, the University's radio station. Break also performed at some of the college's hip hop functions for audiences of 1,000+.

In his return to Rhode Island in the year 2000, Break released Tape 11: "Feenin'" which quickly became the most popular mixtape ever produced in RI. It's not common to find a mixtape that includes all the best aspects of rap, r&b, underground, old school hip hop, and turntablism all creatively combined into one package. That's Break's style and it's never changed. Apparently it has some sort of appeal... In November of 2000 he won the Brooklyn, NY "Tapekingz 2000 Draft Pick", a national competition. He was labeled "best new DJ" which led him to be sponsored by Varcity Clothing Company, NYC, in January of that year. At the Rhode Island Hip Hop Awards in January of 2001, DJ Break won the award for "Best Mixtape DJ". In the February 2001 issue of "Source" Magazine, DJ Break received an outstanding review of Tape 11:Feenin'.

Break then disappeared into the lab to develop his next masterpiece: Tape 12: No Competition Pt. 2 - The Production, a sequel to Tape 8: No Competition, which he made back in 1998. There has never been a mixtape to date that has been produced to this level of professionalism. It's success has led Break to many rewarding opportunities. Shortly after the release, Break moved to Hollywood, California and within months began working on songs with Master P, Lil' Romeo, the 504 Boyz, Brandy , Timbaland, and other various artists. Now focusing on production, Break has been working on tracks that he hopes will make his mark as one of the top up-and-coming hitmakers in the industry. Presently, Break is collecting demos to find the perfect artists to suit his new label and be showcased on his next mixtape, which will be released within the upcoming months.
