Since his arrival on the scene in the mid ‘80s, the 45 King has emerged as one of the most influential and legendary DJs in all of hip-hop. Tuff City has partnered with "DJ Mark" to produce such iconic old school recordings as Lakim Shabazz's "Pure Righteousness" album and arguably the greatest breakbeat in the history of hip-hop, "The 900 Number". While Tuff City almost never positions itself in the contemporary game, a batch of new beats and raps by the 45 King is always cause for jumping back in. With the Cat Jams album, the 45 King again proves his mettle via a collection of a capella beats and instrumentals, as well as rap jams ranging from Old School Flava Unit posse members Double J and Chill Rob G to newer jacks such as Big Poo. A new offering from the 45 King is always a cause for celebration in hip-hop circles. |
