From the multi-talented singer/songwriter/producer Georgia Anne Muldrow comes the 2nd installment in her instrumental electronic jazz series under the alias Jyoti. Written, produced, arranged & performed by Muldrow the album was inspired by her father, mother and spiritual mentor Alice Coltrane. Taping into her Ancestral Orchestra this one woman band fuses the elements to create this unique landscape of sound. Differing from her debut Jyoti release, Denderah serves as a more straight-ahead jazz release.
Born in Los Angeles California Georgia’s jazz roots stemmed from her parents. Her father, Ronald Muldrow, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Eddie Harris. Her mother, Rickie-Byars Beckwith, singer/songwriter/composer who served as lead singer for Pharoah Sanders Ensemble, Roland Hanna, Howard Johnson & The New York Jazz Quartet. Her early influences lead her to start writing, composing and playing instruments before reaching the early age of 10. Georgia would later move to New York after graduating high school to attend the New School’s Jazz program where she met fellow musicians Robert Glasper & Bilal, both of which she continues to work with. |
