Amongst many other crews, the Hard Knocks (emcee Hardhead and DJ Stoneface) were doomed by their contract on Wild Pitch Records - they never got any proper support, nor any good sales, although critics from this time were quite enthusiastic, they disappeared from scene..
the album is what i would call one of my all time favorite HipHop albums. Plain classic sample-loop production with lot of James Brown vibe (and samples of course) and heavy break-beat loops. Emcee Hardhead has a 'mostly-the-voice' voice and messages from HIV infected male assholes, to poverty struggle, hood stories, race conflicts, cop stories etc. His flow is remarkably smooth and goes perfect with the vibes of the production. I could go on and say a thousand positive things about this album - you just got to have it!
great copy of this rare LP
