Back in stock! Sixtoo's masterpiece was first released back in 2002 on the Cease & Desist label, that CD edition sadly soon fell out of print. Then by popular demand the artist himself dropped two limited vinyl pressings in a special card sleeve with gold and silver foil printing. Now in 2005 Sixtoo's close friends at Bully release the CD in newly mastered form with a 60 minute DVD as a bonus - the definitive edition with artwork similar to the vinyl sleeves but now with debossed black gloss print. The music speaks for itself as a masterpiece of moody dark jazz based instrumental hip hop, pretty unique sounding so much so that it shouts Sixtoo at you the way early DJ Shadow does the same, the scratching, feeling and vocal stabs evoke both 'Influx' and 'What Does Your Soul Look Like'. 'Duration' runs to 40 mins while the prior 'Secrets That Houses Keep' 10" also features. The film shows Seka, Sixtoo's graf alias removing electrical entry point plates from various properties and street lamps in Halifax, Nova Scotia 2001. Then takign them back to his studio to paint graf based art with them. Then at nightfall he screws the plates back in place, then photograph's them for his records. In addition to the film there are stills of more of Sixtoo's art and project information. Even if you are lucky enough to own previous editions I'd say this is pretty essential. |
