Hot on the heels of his collaboration with brit-soul royalty Roachford, Dr Rubberfunk turns to the heir apparent of the soul scene John Turrell for the cracking southern funk of 'Northern Comfort'. John Turrell has burst onto the scene as the frontman of Rhythm & Blues hotshots Smoove & Turrell, and has been a regular fixture at festivals and on the radio through 2009 picking up two 'Record of the Week's on BBC Radio 2 and featuring as the lead singer of the BBC's Fantasy Funk Band - formed to celebrate 75 years of Maida Vale.
When Rubberfunk had cooked up his own personal Memphis Soul Stew moment he knew there was only one person to turn to. JT quickly agreed, and a night in the studio later 'Northern Comfort' was born.
Jalapeno turned to up and coming Australian nu-funk producer Slynk for the remix and he quickly ramped it up to a Rhodes-fired club bomb. The boys liked his mix so much they even went back into the studio to re-record the vocals at the faster tempo to produce the sweetest end result possible.
Dr Rubberfunk drops a Hot Stone'd psychedelic sitar-drone and bass clarinet groove on bonus track Bombay Bossa to complete the package
