When a group of hip hop producers from Chicago get together, a new outlook is set. They crave to make music with artists whom they choose. This entity came to be in 2005 when Jay Nice and Custom began to work on similar projects in the local indie scene in Chicago. Since then they have acquired two members, Visto and Mystro, to form their Regiment Records label and their crew was born. Working from project to project, their catalog spans from the typical grass root boom bap to the radio ready artist creating trunk music.
In this installment, Jay Nice and Custom introduce a Chicago westside native known as Kastaway. This 18 years-old “hood thorough” MC brings forth his feelings/sentiments, thoughts, and overall “real talk” attitude with his lyrics. One can feel his soul air out in “My Life,” produced by Jay Nice and also feel the wrath in “Not Equal,” produced by Custom. Music speaks louder than words, but in this case so do the lyrics.
